TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/02/17
DATE: Wednesday, February 18, 2026
What a wonderful day of fine arts! A big thank you to the McNiel family and the CCU Choir for sharing wonderful music with us! We hope to make this an annual activity.
Secondly, we wanted to take a moment to address a growing concern that comes around this time of the year. First, let us say that we appreciate each of your families and the work each of you has put in to help make Wonder possible. It’s been a pleasure getting to know everyone and seeing relationships grow over the course of the year. As students develop stronger friendships week after week, we understand they can become more comfortable with one another and desire to socialize more. However, during class and assembly, we expect students to be respectful, attentive, and ready to learn. We’ve received reports from multiple Guides about an increased number of disruptive behaviors since spring sessions began (such as excessive out-of-turn talking during class & instruction, poor attitudes, and tardiness). For families who may not know, we have a conflict guide to help our Guides manage behavior in the classroom. Overall, they have not needed to go beyond the Refocus step (seen below), but they have also been gracious in giving more opportunity to correct behavior than they should. Even if we meet more than once a week, Guides should not need to manage poor behavior outside of very few and unique exceptions per individual student. It is not fair to them or the other students in the class. But, especially because we only meet once a week, Guides do not have the time. Please remind your child of the Wonder Way, basic principles of grace and courtesy, and consideration of others. We will be encouraging staff to remain respectful but firm in the expectations for class behavior and to NOT be lenient to poor attitudes, but rather consistent. Please be reassured that we want your children to succeed and grow in good character, as we believe every parent does. If your student is dismissed from class, it is for this reason, and we ask for your support in this decision by enforcing good character at home.
Steps of Wonder’s Conflict Guide
1. Remember to begin with a Relationship of Respect
2. Request
3. Refocus
4. Reset & Retry
5. Remove
Thank you all for your cooperation!
Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!
