Providing a quality Wonder experience requires hundreds of hours of volunteer support. By volunteering a few hours of your time, you will help keep Wonder running smoothly, as well as meet other Wonder parents, develop new skills, and exercise existing ones. All are welcome to volunteer – moms, dads, and grandparents! We are honored to have the continual support of our Wonder parents.
Every enrolled family is required to dedicate certain hours of time in an assignment for Wonder during the course of the program. Some assignments have greater priority to fill than others and may not be needed at this time. Helping Hands placements are made based on your child’s class schedule, your availability, your skills, and several other factors. We do our best to match Helpers with a class that will most help the program and students. In some cases we are able to place a parent in a class with their own children, but that is not guaranteed.

Helping in the playroom/nursery is perfect for mamas who will already be there with their own young children or for mamas whose kids are older and need a baby fix! The playroom helpers need to provide supervision for young children whose parent/guardian is working elsewhere in the building. You will need to greet children as they arrive and make them feel welcome. Help them check-in and note any special instructions. Keep them entertained and make sure play does not get too rough. Make sure older children are not using the playroom without a parent present. Be prepared to change diapers or take them to the restroom. Keep the playroom area clean, including wiping down surfaces, vacuuming, keeping toys picked up.
Playroom Helpers should remain off the phone during assigned Block.

Adults who serve in the Playroom are required to compete a background check the first year working with this group, even if they complete a background check within the last three years. Non-enrichment class monitors are important for maintaining a fun and safe environment.
Non-enrichment classes are:
- Study Hall – located in the foyer
- Open Gym – located in the gym
Class Monitors must keep watch for the following:
- All students in the building without a parent/guardian must either be in an enrichment or non-enrichment class at all times.
- All students are wearing their name badges and are in the right place.
- You may be asked to help students put their belongings in the right place, as they move from class to class.
- Monitors need to walk around to monitor students. You will not be able to work with your own children or sit and read.
- Remind students to be quiet when classes are meeting in the same room (if applicable).
- Study Hall monitors need to remind students to study quietly.
- We ask you be friendly and encouraging.
- Remind students to pick up their own trash, keep their possessions in the right place, and be respectful of other people and things. There are many expensive items and instruments in the rooms that need to be kept safe.
- Help students clean up their own messes.
- Help keep the room clean.
- Occasionally wipe down tables and sweep the floor, as needed.
For the safety and wellbeing of Wonder students, Helping Hands and Staff are not able to wear masks when working with the 0-7 year-olds, Gym, or Lab classes.
Year commitment required.
Class assistants get to listen to the group practice or learn their new skills. They assist with taking attendance, collecting and recording practice records and RETURN to Guide, handing out supplies (such as music), straighten up the classrooms, recording some student evaluations, etc. They may also help with their group during concerts and events.
Class Helpers should remain off the phone during assigned Block.
Upon arrival, Class Helpers should check-in with Guide to confirm assistant needs for the day.
Class Helpers should actively assist the Guide without additional prompting.
We do our best to place experienced Class Helpers in particular classes (for example, a parent a flute background may be placed in band). Although suggestions and input are welcomed, because we know there are multiple methods to instructing a particular skill, we ask suggestions be made to the Guide privately before or after class, rather than interjecting suggestions during class. This will help us avoid confusion for Wonder students.
For the safety and wellbeing of Wonder students, Helping Hands and Staff are not able to wear masks when working with the 0-7 year-olds, Gym, or Lab classes.
Year commitment required.
Hall monitors are important for maintaining safe environment and must keep watch for the following:

- Remind students to be quiet when in the hall.
- Complete Bathroom Checks at the beginning, middle, and end of your assigned Block (and as needed based on bathroom traffic). Each stall should be checked for damage or out-of-place items.
- We ask you be friendly, encouraging, and firm when communicating.
Year commitment required.
Lunch Monitors must keep watch for the following:
- Monitors actively direct students to promptly sit in their teams during Assembly.
- At least 2 Lunch Monitors should stand at the door of the Gym at the beginning of Assembly.
- Monitors need to occasionally walk around to monitor students in the lunch areas and be alert and aware of surroundings.
- Students should remain in the designated grassy area and not roam out of sight, if outside.
- Please be friendly and encouraging, yet firm when communicating.
- Remind students to pick up their own trash, keep their possessions in the right place, and be respectful of other people and things.
Give a 5 & 10 minute bell warning. Bell is located in the Welcome area.
Year commitment required.
We would love to have some experienced parents help out at the information table. They need to be able to answer questions from other parents as well as help take payments and sell meal cards and concert tickets (if applicable). They may also help enter attendance on the computer and send out practice note memos. A friendly smile and being comfortable with a computer will be a huge asset! Please email hello@letswonder.org if you are interested.
Semester commitment required.
These are some of our most valuable helpers. The staff do NOT want to stay until late at night cleaning the building! Many hands make light work. We need help setting up rooms before class and breakdown and making sure the building is clean at the end of the day.
- Setup: During the first week, please arrive at 8:00-8:30am and complete all tasks by 9:45pm. The final arrival time will be based on how long it takes to complete all tasks.
- Breakdown: Please depart after all tasks are complete
Semester commitment required.
Floaters help wherever needed – making copies of worksheets or music, giving chair tests, or subbing in the nursery, kitchen, social hall, classrooms, etc. and may be placed in a permanent assignment as needed.
You never know what you will do that day! Be prepared to clean toilets, sort student portraits, or even run to the store for supplies!
If there are no needs when you first arrive, you will help supervise non-enrichment classes or the hallways, but be ready to step in somewhere else during your shift if something comes up.
You will need to be available during your entire shift. If we are short an essential position elsewhere, you may be asked to be a permanent sub in that area.
Want to help families save money on their tuition? You can handle the fundraisers offered including the letter project, fairs, and other events.
We need two people at this table at all times for accountability since they will be handling money. This position requires people who are trustworthy and can manage money accurately. We need to have at least one experienced person on each shift.
Semester commitment required.
There are other miscellaneous things that need to be done. If you can’t fit one of these into your schedule, maybe you can help out with our theater costumes or do some computer work for us. We need people to help with Family Orientation setup and people to bake snack items for our lunches and people to help with concerts. Contact hello@letswonder.org if you need help finding a place to plug in.
The Wonder Honor Society volunteers help Student Members and Parent Advisors with requested needs and may be asked to do any of the regular Helping Hands tasks.
