WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/01/13

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/01/13
DATE: Wednesday, January 14, 2026

Apologies for the delayed memo!

It was wonderful being back at Wonder and seeing you all after break (even though our day was cut short due to an unexpected power outage)! Thank you to everyone for helping us get packed up and the truck loaded! We appreciate everyone’s understanding and prayer, as the CCPC does not know exactly what caused the outage, and they work to provide a safe location for us to use week after week. We’re thankful for them!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. — 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 English Standard Version (ESV)
  • Helping Hands: Please remember to check-in and out in the staff binder and review the Helping Hands Daily Rundown.
  • Tardy Arrival: During the fall session, we had a surprising number of tardy students during Block 1 and 2. It is imperative that students arrive on-time each week. Tardies are a disruption to class, and they make it challenging to accomplish daily goals when the guides and coaches must repeat information for students who arrive late. If they are walking in at class start-time they are late. Since we only meet once a week, it’s imperative we accomplish our daily goals within the designated time frame. Thank you!
  • Wonder Hangtime Challenge: Guided PE students are practicing their hang times and pullups and you can join them and see who can hang the longest! We will run the challenge from next week until the April 22 (or sooner if we have all our challengers). Here’s the rules!
    • 1) You must come to Miss Sandra or a PE Helping Hands to time your hanging. We have to be present for the timing to record it.
    • 2) You can try 3 times and take the highest of the 3 times as your record.
    • 3) Your feet cannot touch the sides or the box if being used to get it on.
    • 4) You have to start at our call and will stop the timer as soon as you let go.
    • Adults are welcome to join in as well!
    • Longest hang time gets a prize!
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: January (Throwback Day) – Trends come and go. And, with so many wonderful, and not so wonderful, fashion trends making comebacks it’s likely you already have something “retro” in your closet. Hollywood 30s, swingin’ 50s, bell-bottom 70s, neon 80s—any time-period is game. Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

OTHER EVENT DATES (OPTIONAL)

Meet Your Legislator Day
February 11 – Registration Required –
As homeschoolers, we believe it is our responsibility to understand our state’s homeschool laws and to advocate for parental and homeschool rights. In order to do this, we must be aware of current legislative updates regarding both. You can read (and join the email list) for legislative updates from CHEC’s Homeschool Freedom Team at chec.org/colorado-homeschool-freedom. Another way to stay involved (yay to a hands-on civic lesson!) is during Meet Your Legislator Day organized by CHEC at the Colorado State Capitol. You can make a direct impact on your district legislator’s perspective and potential voting decisions! As anti-homeschool advocates around the country continue to push for more homeschool regulations, we must remember that homeschooling is a privilege afforded to us by God and those before us who fought for the rights we currently have. Let us continue to guard our rights so our children and future generations can inherit the same privileges or better! [REGISTRATION LINK]
