WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2025/11/04

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2025/11/04
DATE: Wednesday, November 5, 2025

Thank you to everyone for helping make Wonder easier to facilitate every week. Many hands make light work! It’s nice to see everyone settling into the Wonder groove and coming every week ready to learn, share, and have fun. We appreciate the attentiveness, participation, and enthusiasm of each family.

And, although our nation is divided on the results of the election, it was nice to see them actually announced on election day! We were happy to see the homeschooling law not changed. Let us pray for each other, the near future, and the extended future of the next generation… our children.

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27
  • Gum: For the first time, we were notified that the facilities staff at CCPC is finding gum on the floor after we leave on Tuesday. Please communicate to your children to dispose of their gum, food, and trash in an appropriate receptacle. If we get one more notification from staff, gum will not be allowed for children.
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: November (Hat Day) – Baseball caps, clown hats, cowboy hats, or styled fedoras are all perfect choices! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

WONDER FUNDRAISER (SAVE THE DATE)

We are on our way to reaching our funding goal for the 2025-2026 season, but we need your help to get us to the finish line.

Wonder only does one student fundraiser a year, in which we’ve raised several thousand dollars to supplement our Homeschool Day programs. We choose to do a crowdfunding-style campaign, where students can add a message to send to family, friends, church members, and parent co-workers in a simple, more hands-off way than other student fundraisers you may have done. You will receive more information about this in the coming weeks. This year, we are testing/comparing the benefits of an earlier fundraiser period, so we’re starting the fundraiser activities in the fall instead of spring. We’ve also noticed that most families wait until the deadline to submit emails, so we’re shortening the period so we have more time to spread the word. The Wonder Games flyers will be handed out before break. Please be sure to pick it up at the welcome table. On the back of your family’s flyer is a description of the event and how it works.

As a preparatory step, please think upon the following questions (no reply needed):

  • As a student: What does Wonder mean to you? What do you like to learn about during Wonder? Why do you enjoy being a part of Wonder?
  • As a parent: What does Wonder mean to you? What type of impact has Wonder had on your child?

What is Wonder Games?

  • What: The Wonder Games is our annual fundraiser focused on active games, community spirit, fun, and friendly competition!
  • When: Tuesday, March 3 from 6pm to 8pm
  • Where: CCPC Community Center (Our regular Wonder HSD Building)
  • Why: As a privately funded, faith-based nonprofit ministry dedicated to providing an affordable and high-quality program to families and the community, the Wonder Games allows us to host a fun student fundraiser that gets all students involved without selling items or going door-to-door, and brings the entire family together to share a night of fun games.
  • How:
    • Families will receive a flyer with fundraiser information and details on how the Wonder Games works. Put it on your refrigerator!
    • Families use the online fundraiser form on the Wonder Games page to submit their email list of family, friends, and co-workers, along with a spot to write an optional, short personal message.
    • The emails you provide will ONLY be used to communicate about the Wonder Games fundraiser on your behalf and will NOT be added to our regular email list. We will not sell, share, or trade this information with any other party.
    • FUNDRAISER FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY NOVEMBER 18 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POINTS
    • Wonder will send out the fundraiser email on behalf of our Wonder families to receive donations (with online and offline giving options available).
    • Students will get points for the number of contacts listed AND donations raised to redeem at the Wonder Games event.
    • Please be sure to RSVP for the Wonder Games event on the Wonder Games page.
  • (Alternative Options): As we shared during Family Orientation and Family Interviews, this fundraiser is now required for all Wonder Families in order to ensure we’re able to offer the program at a reduced rate for all families and provide additional need-based scholarships. If you’d prefer not to submit emails, you may choose to give a one-time donation of $500 or more in lieu of submitting emails.
  • Unable to attend the event? No worries. All families who complete their fundraiser form will receive points for the number of emails submitted and can redeem their points for a prize after the Wonder Games event.

We greatly appreciate your participation and support!
