TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/05/04
DATE: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
1 last class of the season on Family Day! PLEASE CHECK YOUR ARRIVAL TIME AND ARRIVE ON TIME!
What an exceptional Year of Wonder event! You all played wonderfully! Do you remember how challenging the music was during the first days of rehearsal? Now, you’ve not only learned the music but also learned how to play better together as an ensemble. Congratulations to all the first-timers who performed with confidence and focus. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did listening to you share music together. And, thank you to all our art students who submitted a piece in the art display. We were impressed with the technique and creativity showcased, as well as the collaboration piece, which was the perfect backdrop to the evenings photos!
We ended 2 minutes early! Can you believe it? With the last-minute rearranging of the schedule and with a condensed tech rehearsal, we still managed to cross the finish line in record time! Special thanks to Miss Shemayah, Miss Patty, Miss Menorah, the volunteers, parents, and students who stepped up to fill the gaps when needed throughout the year, in and out of class, and during Tuesday’s event. We’ll miss our seniors (many of them are OG Wonder students from our first year and before (Nolens and Perzenskis)) and hope you’ll join us as a mentor next year and/or come visit us when you’re a grown up. And, finally to any families who will be moving out of state this year, we pray you are blessed wherever you go. We’ll miss you!
Next week is the last day and will look much differently than our regular class schedule, so let’s make sure we continue following the expectations set forth in the Wonder Way which express the importance of walking in good character, being thoughtful and attentive, and honoring others in the class and during a performance. It’s something we’ve spoken about throughout the year, but please take this time to reiterate and remind your child of proper performance/event etiquette. Yesterday’s event was great practice to model this. Thank you for guiding your children in good character and consideration of others.
Lastly, if anyone captured some of the music from before the concert (something you rushed to pull your phone out to record…like Ezrah and the other baby talking during the concert), plus any other video or photos, please let us know and add them to the [LINK].
Please be sure to read this memo so we can all be prepared for the next final weeks. Please be on-time and let us know if you have any questions as soon as possible so we can clarify for everyone. And, please remember to add your photos from the year to the album at the bottom of this memo. Thank you!
Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!
HIGHLIGHTS
- Scripture of the Month: Psalms 136:1 – Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. – Psalms 136:1 New King James Version (NKJV)
- Family Day (NEXT WEEK): We finally received an update! Please view the event memo for details and arrive promptly. [EVENT MEMO LINK]
- Mini Concert will be at 10am
- Performers wear Wonder Black (Wonder Tee & Black bottoms)
- Everyone else wear Wonder Tees.
- All shorts and skirts knee-length or longer for all who choose to wear them, please.
- Leggings may NOT be worn by themselves. A skirt or dress must be worn over leggings.
- Standard dress standards.
- Facilities Conflict Update:
- May 12 (In progress): We are not able to use the sanctuary tomorrow or the GYM in the morning, so we will host the Family Day Concert in the Bowl (outside lawn). We ask everyone who is able to bring lawn chairs for our guests (and yourselves if you prefer not to sit on the grass). We will offer guests the stadium seats first. Let’s pray for warm weather and dry grounds. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
- Percussion Students: Please note your arrival time is not the same as band. You need to arrive earlier to help setup all percussion needs.
- Instrument Rental from Flesher Hinton and Music @ Parker Road:
- Playing the same instrument next year? No further action required. Students who intend to play the same instrument are required to practice during summer break. We suggest keeping your instrument rental active and pursuing summer private lessons with one of our coaches. It’s very easy, especially for beginner instrument players, to lose proper technique and form without practicing on a regular basis.
- Changing instruments next year? If you plan to change instruments next year, you can leave your rental instrument with the vendor representative when at Wonder next week. However, you MUST CONTACT the rental company FIRST. Please include a copy of your rental information (account first and last name, shop name) in the instrument case. Students who choose a NEW different instrument will begin in Prelude Band/Orchestra or will need to complete a placement audition during the summer (or at the beginning of next season) to place in an upper-level ensemble. Dates will be posted as soon as possible. Keep in mind, students now require a coach recommendation before consideration in upper ensembles.
- Return Music (NEXT WEEK): Please be sure your child brings their Practice Records and ALL of their music next week, as some will need to be returned.
- Year of Wonder Video: We have a video recording of last night’s event and will plan to get a downloadable link to you within several weeks.
- Clothing Drive: Wonder Honor Societ, Yrushalayim Leake, is organizing a Clothing Drive for Golden Pantry and Thrift. Golden Pantry and Thrift is a local organization that provides healthy food via their pantry and affordable clothing via their thrift store. They also provide rent and utilities assistance to keep families homed and stable during difficult times. Thses clothes items will help them with their mission. The total goals Yrushalayim is working to collect are as follows, and she asks that you contribute towards any of these items:
- Pickup Date: May 12 and June 2
- Goal: 100 clothing items
- Please donate the following items:
- T-shirts
- Skirts or dresses
- Pants
- Shorts
- Pajamas
- Stuffed toys
- 2026 Colorado Homeschool Days Fair Youth Marketplace: WHS students have been hard at work planning this year’s fair. Please support them by registering your child as a Youth Exhibitor and registering to attend the event linked below.
