TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/03/31
DATE: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
3 more classes until the Year of Wonder: Spring Concert and Art Display and 4 more wonder weeks until Family Day!
Firstly, thank you to everyone for representing Wonder so well this week as guests of Fellowship Community Church. We are full of gratitude for their generousity and hospitality. We would like to give an offering to the church for allowing the use of the building. If you are able to donate $10 for your family, we can add it to the donation after break. You can do so at generously.me/wonder and select the “Appreciation Gift” designation.
Secondly, thank you to our Dance and Concert Orchestra students for sharing music with us during Assembly! Despite the confusion with the music and your first time playing together, you all displayed remarkable professionalism! Well done!
And, we hope to see many of you at Homeschool Day at the Capitol next week. Performers should be there at 7:30am in their concert black, but others can come as early as 8am to watch and enjoy the rest of the day’s events. Wear your Wonder tees (performers bring them to change into after the performance)!
Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!
HIGHLIGHTS
- Scripture of the Month: Galatians 5:22-25 — The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. — Galatians 5:22-25
- NO CLASS NEXT WEEK: No class April 7 (Spring Break)
- DAC [REMINDER – NEXT WEEK – Mandatory for Concert Orchestra & All Choirs, ASL Choir]: Homeschool Day at the Capitol (DAC) is on Thursday, April 9! We encourage everyone to attend the event as it is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of such an important day of homeschool representation before our state officials. You can view the event details and register for the event on the hosts website [LINK].
- Bin Blessed and There With Care Canned Food Drive: Wonder Honor Society students are aiding Khayila Scott in her Canned Food Drive for Bin Blessed and There With Care. Bin Blessed is a local organization and the biggest contributor of grocery items and baby essentials for the non-profit, There With Care. There With Care provides a wide range of fundamental services for families facing a child’s medical crisis, families with a NICU baby, and families with a child going through a mental health crisis. To find out more about Bin Blessed and There With Care go to https://www.binblessed.com/ and https://therewithcare.org/. This canned foods will help them with their mission. The total goals WHS is working to collect are as follows, and we ask that you contribute towards any of these items:
- Pickup Date: April 14, 21, 28 from 8:30am-5:00pm
- Goal: 200 canned foods (about 5-10 per family)
- Please donate Chicken, Beef, Turkey, or Vegetarian options of the following items:
- Pasta
- Pasta Sauce
- Soup
- Beans
- Rice
- Summer Rockies Game Opportunity Reminder (Deadline April 3): If you are a Wonder band and orchestral students interested in joining Miss Nicole Rafferty’s music studio to perform the National Anthem at the Colorado Rockies Game on July 21st at 6:40pm at Coors Field, please reach out to Miss Nicole Rafferty (nicolerafferty@a-musician-is.com) by Friday so she can compile a roster for the performance. Keep in mind, we may not include all band instruments if the balance of the ensemble isn’t ideal.
- Group Class Photos Reminder (April 14): Group class pictures for the yearbook are scheduled for April 14 during the class day. All ensembles and enrichment classes will take a picture together so we ask you to arrive 15 minutes earlier than your regular check-in time and plan to stay about 15 minutes later so we can bookend the photo time. For example, we’ll take the band photo between Block 2 and Block 3 so both Prelude, Training, and Midpoint Band can take the picture together. This will also minimize class disruptions. Students, staff, and Helping Hands should be in their Wonder Tees.
- Homeschool Spirit Day: (Funky Socks Day) – Kick off those plain black or white socks and put on something with a little more spunk! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun! – This is not the dress rehearsal day…its the week before.
PARENT REMINDER (PRACTICE DURING BREAK)
If your student is in an ensemble (Bands, Orchestras, Drumline, Flags, Recorder, Choirs, Dance) or Theater, please remember the following:
- Be sure to remind your child to practice the REQUIRED amount for the week DURING BREAK (noted in the Class Notes, linked below). The guides and coaches post what students need to practice for the week.
- Instruments: Practicing during breaks is especially important for new musicians because it takes time and consistency to make the skills taught become more natural and dependable. Extended breaks are not helpful for individual progression or the group.
- Resources: Please be sure your child has access to the sound files, video files, and/or script for practicing/memorizing their lines and characters so they can practice their parts as needed.
- No Instrument?: If you are out of town and unable to bring your instrument, you can practice everything without an instrument by mime playing (which still helps develop muscle memory and skills). It is better to practice with the resources you have rather than not practicing at all. You can also listen to your pieces and practice rhythms and reading skills.
