WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/03/24

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: WGN WEEKLY MEMO: 2026/03/24
DATE: Wednesday, March 25, 2026

4 more classes until the Year of Wonder: Spring Concert and Art Display and 5 more wonder weeks until Family Day!

Secondly, thank you to our Drumline and Bucketline students for sharing music with us during Assembly! It inspired us to organize a homeschool prep rally in the future!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season, and remember to check the Action Items at the bottom of each memo!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Galatians 5:22-25 — The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. — Galatians 5:22-25
  • March 31st Location Update: Wonderful news! Wonder Generations classes will be held at Fellowship Community Church (6263 S Parker Rd, Centennial, CO 80016) on March 31. Arrival and class times are all the same. Please be sure you have submitted or will submit your waiver upon arrival. Wonder Honor Society is cancelled. Thank you to everyone who looked for a temporary location! We would like to give an offering to the church for allowing the use of the building. If you are able to donate $10 for your family we can send them a donation next week. You can do so at generously.me/wonder and select the “Appreciation Gift” designation.
  • Assembly Market: Assembly Market is cancelled for next week.
  • Summer Rockies Game Opportunity:
    • We’re excited to announce that Wonder band and orchestral students are invited to join Miss Nicole Rafferty’s music studio to perform the National Anthem at the Colorado Rockies Game on July 21st at 6:40pm at Coors Field! Any students interested in participating in the Anthem performance should reach out to Miss Nicole Rafferty (nicolerafferty@a-musician-is.com ), as soon as possible so she can compile a roster for the performance. Keep in mind, we may not include all band instruments if the balance of the ensemble isn’t ideal.
    • Students will be expected to attend 4 rehearsals between May and July occurring on Thursday evenings at 6pm at 9360 Teddy Ln Suite 102, Lone Tree CO 80124. As is customary with similar performance opportunities, participants are asked to promote the event, with tickets starting at $16.
    • For individuals interested in supporting the music programs and having a great time with their friends at the ball park will be more than welcome to purchase tickets soon. We appreciate more folks cheering us on in the stands!
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: (Heroes Day) – Dress up as a real-life hero or fictional superhero! Points for those who take it to the next level and embrace the character (think accents)! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

Important Note for all Performance Groups, especially Prelude Band and Orchestra Participation
The extent of an individual’s participation is solely in control of the student and parent. Students who have been diligent about practicing will more likely learn and master the necessary skills, while those who have not made it a priority may struggle to do both.

The amount of practice time is not the only factor we use to determine if a student will participate in group performance, but it is a major one, along with attendance. It is neither fair to the individual or the group to allow a student to participate if they do not know how to play the music well due to a lack of practice at home.

We desire to give students as much time as possible in order to be successful. If a student is putting in the effort but struggling, we will do our best to make accommodations for the student. That is not the same for someone who is struggling but is not putting in the time to improve.

For struggling students who receive an email or verbal notice for private lessons, final decision for performance participation will be made on April 28.

Parents, please be sure your child is ON-TIME AND PRESENT DURING REHEARSALS and PRACTICING AT HOME diligently over the last several weeks. Thank you for your cooperation!
