MEMO: WGN CLASS NOTES: WONDER PREP
DATE: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Below are notes to help each family prepare for their time at Wonder, including details for all students, music students, and class-specific notes. We’ve also included a short note to help your family understand the goal, specifically what each class/ensemble is working toward during the course of the year (including required and optional performances).
To print, click on the Memo Title to view the View PDF & Print link above the selected memo. To save paper and ink, we suggest selecting the following options when printing: double-sided and 2-pages per side. You can also copy/paste relevant sections, then print.
MEMORY VERSES (SEE ALL)
- Wonder provides monthly biblical character lessons every month based on Scripture. Students are able to memorize and recite these verses, as well as others, throughout the year. We always start the year with “Attentiveness, which is listed below. You can see the full definition in the link above, and practice the memory verses below. During our first assembly on the first day of class, you’ll learn more about how you can earn points for Scripture memorization. These are also great memory verses and discussion topics for the family. We hope you are encouraged by them.
- Scripture of the Month: Psalms 71:17-18 – God, You have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wonders. Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come. – Psalms 71:17-18
- Character Scripture:
- Proverbs 2:1-5 – My child, if you receive my words, and store up my commands within you, by making your ear attentive to wisdom, and by turning your heart to understanding…Then you will understand how to fear the LORD, and you will discover knowledge about God. – Proverbs 2:1-5 NET (New English Translation)
- Isaiah 28:23 – Listen, and hear my voice! Listen attentively, and hear my word! – Isaiah 28:23 LEB (Lexham English Bible)
- Proverbs 4:20-22 – My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22 ESV (English Standard Version)
- Matthew 7:24 – Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. – Matthew 7:24 World English Bible (WEB)
- 1 John 3:11 – For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. – 1 John 3:11 New King James Version (NKJV)
ALL ATTENDEES
- Label ALL personal possessions
- Attire worn must be according to Wonder Way
- Highlights: Wonder Tees should be worn every week, shorts/skirts/dresses should be at the knee or lower, and leggings are NOT to be worn alone.
- Family Wagon to store your family’s personal items in the first floor hallway. ALL items must fit in the wagon except cellos and upright basses. All other instruments must fit in the wagon, along with stands, backpacks, and lunch bags. Larger families may need two wagons.
- What kind of wagon? It is best to use a wagon with wheels. They can be purchased online according to your budget and size needs, and can often be found used (facebook, nextdoor).
- Don’t own a wagon? A basket or bin could work, though the wheels of a wagon make it easier to move. ALL items must fit in the solution.

- Bag / Backpack for folders, binders, class attire, some instruments, supplies, etc… (You do NOT need a bag or binder for every class, but we’ve listed classes that require these items below)

THEATER
- Theater Monologue Overview
- Theater focuses on a different Historical Time Period each year.
- In class and at home research of the Historical Time Period is required (the depth of research is flexible, but the student should, at a minimum, understand their character and background).
- Depending on individual ability, students may author an original work(s) or select from a number of historically fitting pieces to learn and recite in costume.
- If a student chooses to write an original work, all writing must be completed at home. Parents are welcome to help their younger children if they’d like to write an original work, but must not write it for them.
- Students will use class time to discuss the time period and character research, practice reciting their scripts, and get feedback from others during class.
- Home practice is required, as students will need to memorize their selected work(s).
- Students will have the option to work as an individual or with a partner and help design their set with props. Monologues may be dramatic, humorous, educational, or persuasive and will have varying requirements.
- Small group rehearsals and Crew Days will be scheduled in the evenings (and possibly some mornings) during the spring session so each group can have enough time to design sets, design costumes, and rehearse lines. You will be required to attend a minimum of 1 or 2 rehearsals, based on your individual or group needs. Students and one parent are required to be present the entire day/time they attend.
- Historical Time Period:
History I: Creation to the Resurrection: Covers the period from 4004 BC- History II: The Early Church and Middle Ages: Covers the period from c. AD 33 to 1600 AD
History III: The Renaissance, Reformation, and Growth of Nations: Covers the period from 1455 to 1707History IV: Wars of Independence to Modern Times: Covers the period from 1708 to 2014

Clothes that can be easily laundered are highly recommended, since messes are a constant part of indoor and outdoor activities. Because we cannot keep track of everyone’s clothes without labels, please label every item of clothing, including mittens and socks, with your child’s name. Labeling clothes helps us get them back to the right child.
DANCE FOR DISCOVERY STUDENTS
We ‘re happy to announce we have a dance class for our Discovery students during the last 30 minutes of Block 5 (4:30pm-5:00pm). It is not visible on the online schedule because the class is only opened to enrolled students. If you’re child is interested in participating, please note the details below:
- View practice attire requirements on Expectations page.
- Black Canvas Ballet Shoes: Child Size
- Rehearsal attire should allow for free movement of the legs. There will be no time to change before class, so please be sure your child is dressed upon arrival (excluding dance shoes).
- Plain Black Leggings (fitted but not too tight to restrict movement): No particular brand
- Rehearsal Shorts (mid-thigh length, any color) OR Rehearsal Skirt (mid-thigh length, black) – we need to see movement from the knees so long shorts/skirts are not ideal

- Goal: Family Day Event
*Regarding modesty. It is imperative the Dance Guide can clearly observe and evaluate each students form in order to ensure proper technique and avoid injury. Clothes that can be easily laundered are highly recommended, since messes are a constant part of indoor and outdoor activities.
