WELCOME!

Yay!

We are underway to a great year of Wonder!

We were unable to publish this memo earlier in the summer like we normally do, so thank you all for your patience.

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members and parents.

WELCOME TO OUR STUDENTS!

Congratulations to all our students! We’re happy you’ve joined the Wonder family! As we begin the season, some of the activities may seem challenging to start, but as the weeks go by, you’ll see yourself growing and accomplishing a great deal, both individually and collectively!

WELCOME TO OUR PARENTS & HELPING HANDS!

Welcome to all our wonderful parents and Helping Hands! We are excited to get to know each of you and to stand beside you as we fill this community with wonder and joy for our children and families. For all our Helping Hands, we are working on the volunteer schedule based on this year’s enrollment dynamics. You will receive your assignment at the Mandatory Family Orientation Day in September.

New: For those of you who plan to stay on campus, all parent volunteers will be required to complete a background check every year. Background checks are $40 and provided by a third-party company. [BACKGROUND CHECK LINK]

WELCOME TO OUR GUIDES & COACHES!

Welcome to all our wonderful guides and coaches! We look forward to a great year of students growing and excelling musically, artistically, and creatively under your mentorship and guidance.

All parents are invited to join their child(ren), however, we require that at least one parent/guardian attends and accompanies their child(ren). You will hear more about our faith-based, family-focused, and community-centered approach to learning and sharing skill-based music, arts, and enrichment.

Students who are playing an instrument, please bring your instrument to orientation. Those who ordered an instrument through our vendor should arrive at 4:00pm to receive their items.

  • Instrument Pickup: If you have purchased or are renting an instrument from a Wonder vendor your instruments will be delivered for pickup during Family Orientation.

Returning recorder students, please bring the Recorder 1 instrument, accessories, and music books (do not bring your music stand).

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.05.07
DATE: Wednesday, May 8, 2024

1 last class of the season on Family Day!

What an exceptional Year of Wonder event! You all played wonderfully! Do you remember how challenging the music was during the first days of rehearsal? Now, you’ve not only learned the music but also learned how to play better together as an ensemble. Congratulations to all the first-timers who performed with confidence and focus. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did listening to you share music together. And, thank you to all our art students who submitted a piece in the art display. We were impressed with the technique and creativity showcased, as well as the collaboration piece, which was the perfect backdrop to the evenings photos!

Special thanks to Miss Emily who came back for the concert, and the volunteers, parents, and students who stepped up to fill the gaps when needed throughout the year, in and out of class, and during Tuesday’s event. We’ll miss our seniors and hope you’ll join us as a mentor next year and/or come visit us when you’re a grown up. And, finally to the family who will be moving out of state this year (Akers), we pray you are blessed wherever you go. We’ll miss you!

Next week is the last day and will look much differently than our regular class schedule, so let’s make sure we continue following the expectations set forth in the Wonder Way which express the importance of walking in good character, being thoughtful and attentive, and honoring others in the class and during a performance. It’s something we’ve spoken about throughout the year, but please take this time to reiterate and remind your child of proper performance/event etiquette. Yesterday’s event was great practice to model this. Thank you for guiding your children in good character and consideration of others.

Lastly, if anyone captured some of the music from before the concert (pure imagination and veggie tales), plus any other video or photos, please let us know and add them to the [LINK].

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Psalms 119:14 – I find joy in the way shown by your written instructions more than I find joy in all kinds of riches. – Psalms 119:14 God’s Word Translation (GW)
  • Family Day (May 14) (NEXT WEEK): Please view the event memo for details and arrive promptly. [EVENT MEMO LINK]
  • Theater: We do not have another rehearsal before our Family Day performance. Please help your child continue to practice their lines or improv ideas at home. We are especially emphasizing knowing how to project and articulate. Thank you for your continued at-home support of theatre!
  • Instrument Rental from Flesher Hinton and Music @ Parker Road:
    • Playing the same instrument next year? No further action required. Students who intend to play the same instrument are required to practice during summer break. We suggest keeping your instrument rental active and pursuing summer private lessons with one of our coaches. It’s very easy, especially for beginner instrument players, to lose proper technique and form without practicing on a regular basis.
    • Changing instruments next year? If you plan to change instruments next year, you can leave your rental instrument with Wonder during the last day of class next week and it will be returned for you. However, you MUST CONTACT the rental company FIRST. Please include a copy of your rental  information (account first and last name, shop name) in the instrument case. Students who choose a different instrument will begin in Prelude Band/Orchestra or will need to complete a placement audition during the summer to place in an upper ensemble. Dates will be posted as soon as possible.
  • Year of Wonder Video: We have a video recording of last night’s event and will plan to get a downloadable link to you within several weeks.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES

  • 2023-2024 Wonder HSD Calendar: Please view the updated calendar for general calendar dates and start and end times. We are still adding dates to the calendar as they are approved by the varying facilities.
  • Family Day & Living Theater: May 14 [EVENT MEMO LINK]
  • 2024 Colorado Homeschool Days Fair: June 4

HOMEWORK DUE BY FRIDAY (REPLY TO THIS MEMO, IF APPLICABLE)

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.04.30
DATE: Wednesday, May 1, 2024

Sorry, we’re a day late!

0 more classes until the Year of Wonder: Spring Concert and Art Display & 1 last class of the season on Family Day! Please take a look at the Year of Wonder memo for the updated call-time and event details. We weren’t able to print it out like we usually do for these events, so please do so if you’d like (and we also went back to our original format to make it easier to print and view). Art students who are not in a music ensemble are welcome to come see their artwork displayed at the event.

Thank you all for your patience and hardwork. We had a late start with the bad highway accident and facility scheduling issues, but we finished on-time. We took a lot of photos with only a few people missing (still need a few more that we’ll take next week) — almost perfect attendance! Theater rehearsal also went so well and we’re excited to see it all completely put together on Family Day (May 14)! Even though it was a long and busy day, it ended wonderfully seeing you all in character! A big thanks to everyone for helping setup and breakdown. What a day!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

  • Community Concert (May 25th): Thank you to those who replied with your availability for a community concert. We do not have enough participants available from any of the ensembles (on the same days), so we will plan individual and small ensemble performances during the Resurrection Anglican Fellowship (Rez) event for this year’s spring community concert. We’ve been invited to share music during their piano event with the members of the local community in Greenwood Village, CO on May 25th. For those of you who do not know, Rez has allowed Wonder to use their building several times over the last few years when CCPC was unavailable.  They’ve been gracious and a blessing to Wonder so we hope many of you can make it. If you’d like to signup up for an individual or small ensemble piano performance (please ask Miss Sharon about other instruments), contact Miss Sharon (mezzo.sharon@gmail.com). Please look for updates from Miss Sharon for an event memo link, with time and location details, in next week’s weekly memo.

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.03.26
DATE: Tuesday, March 26, 2024

Reminder: No class today!

IMPORTANT REMINDER!

CLASS NOTES: Please be sure your child is following the listed notes for each week and practicing or completing assignments accordingly.

ENSEMBLES: Parents, if your child is in a performance ensemble, please be sure your child is practicing diligently and is on-time and present over the next 3 weeks of classes. We will be completing projects and conducting multiple class rehearsals (this will not affect your check-in and check-out times). It is very challenging to properly prepare as a team if players are not in attendance. We cannot control absence for illness, but for other reasons we need everyone in class. Thank you for your understanding and effort! Over the final several weeks, different classes will come together to rehearse together throughout the day.

ARRIVE ON-TIME: Please make sure your child arrives on-time each week. Students should arrive in enough time to unpack their items, get out their supplies, and tune their instruments (if applicable) BEFORE class start-time. If they are walking in at class start-time they are late. Since we only meet once a week, it’s imperative we accomplish our daily goals within the designated time-frame. Thank you!

Have a wonderful week!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Psalms 67:4 – Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy, for you judge the peoples with fairness and lead the nations on earth. Selah – Psalms 67:4 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
  • NO CLASS Next Week: Tuesday, March 26
  • Theater Props (All Wonder Families): We still have a few prop needs for theater. See below for signup and photo album link. Here’s a quick glance list of our remaining prop needs: compost box 1930’s style, typewriter and paper, table settings (including: 3 glasses, large plate, small plate, long knife, butter knife, short knife, fork and spoon, spoon, large fork, small fork, 3 prong fork), candelabra, small sewing basket, fire pit, small table, wooden chairs, wooden crates, string and canvas tent, wooden tables long, wooden or metal writing desk, wooden office chair, 2 parlor chairs, oriental style rug, natural fiber rug, simple wingback chair, simple side table, food cart or popcorn cart with wheels

PARENT REMINDER (PRACTICE DURING BREAK)

If your student is in an ensemble (Bands, Orchestras, Recorder, Choirs, Dance) or Theater, please remember the following:

  • Be sure to remind your child to practice the REQUIRED amount for the week DURING BREAK (noted in the Class Notes, linked below). The guides and coaches post what students need to practice for the week.
  • Instruments: Practicing during breaks is especially important for new musicians because it takes time and consistency to make the skills taught become more natural and dependable. Extended breaks are not helpful for individual progression or the group.
  • Resources: Please be sure your child has access to the sound files, video files, and/or script for practicing/memorizing their lines and characters so they can practice their parts as needed.
  • No Instrument?: If you are out of town and unable to bring your instrument, you can practice everything without an instrument by mime playing (which still helps develop muscle memory  and skills). It is better to practice with the resources you have rather than not practicing at all. You can also listen to your pieces and practice rhythms and reading skills.
  • Important Note for Prelude Band and Orchestra Participation
The extent of an individual’s participation is solely in control of the student and parent. Students who have been diligent about practicing will more likely learn and master the necessary skills, while those who have not made it a priority may struggle to do both.

The amount of practice time is not the only factor we use to determine if a student will participate in group performance, but it is a major one, along with attendance. It is neither fair to the individual or the group to allow a student to participate if they do not know how to play the music well due to a lack of practice at home.

We desire to give students as much time as possible in order to be successful. If a student is putting in the effort, but struggling, we will do our best to make accommodations for the student. That is not the same for someone who is struggling but is not putting in the time to improve.

For students who received an email notice for private lessons, final decision for performance participation will be made on April 30th.

Parents, please be sure your child is practicing at home diligently over the last several weeks. Thank you for your cooperation!

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.02.27

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.02.27
DATE: Wednesday, February 28, 2024

Firstly, thank you to Orchestra for sharing music with us during assembly! It was wonderful to hear you play. It’s been amazing to witness your journey, some of you starting with no experience on your instrument to now becoming the musician’s you are today! May you continue to use your talents for His glory!

Can you believe the National Weather Service issued the first-ever snow squall warning for Denver yesterday?! Thanks to all who braved the historic event to be at Wonder.

Thank you to everyone who stayed during our theater tech time yesterday!

The Colorado Homeschool Music Fest is this week! Wonder’s vocal Prime and Youth Choir, along with our Midpoint Band and Orchestra, will perform alongside other ensembles within the homeschool community during Friday’s Concert Festival event! We look forward to this special day of sharing music! To those performing on Thursday for the Colorado Music Fest: Solo & Ensemble, break a leg!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Psalms 67:4 – Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy, for you judge the peoples with fairness and lead the nations on earth. Selah – Psalms 67:4 Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: March 19 (Heroes Day) – Dress up as a real life hero or fictional superhero! Points for those who take it to the next level and embrace the character (think accents)! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!
  • Paid Entry Level/Apprenticeship Opportunity: Eric Fundenberger (fellow Wonder Parent, and Colorado native homeschool alumni) is looking to hire a young guy who is self-motivated and wants to learn a trade. He does mobile autobody paint repairs at a few dealerships in Centennial & Littleton and has employed a dozen young guys in the past decade (one at a time) and several have gone on to become techs and make a great career out of it. The company he works for has a strong Christian culture and he consider himself privileged to work with some really great men these past eighteen years. We’d greatly appreciate help getting the word out and will be sending an email to everyone regarding this position to make it easier to share. If you or someone you know is interested in more details, please look for the email and contact Eric directly.

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.02.13

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.02.13
DATE: Wednesday, February 14, 2024

Hello, Everyone.

We wanted to take a moment to address a growing concern that come around this time of the year. First, let us say that we appreciate each of your families and the work each of you have put in to help make Wonder possible. It’s been a pleasure getting to know everyone and seeing relationships grow over the course of the year. As students develop stronger friendships week after week, we understand they can become more comfortable with one another and desire to socialize more. However, during class and Assembly, we expect students to be respectful, attentive, and ready to learn. We’ve received reports from multiple Guides about an increased number of disruptive behavior since spring sessions began (such as excessive out-of-turn talking during class & instruction, poor attitudes, and tardiness). For families who may not know, we have a conflict guide to help our Guides manage behavior in the classroom. Overall, they have not needed to go beyond the Refocus step (seen below), but they have also been gracious in giving more opportunity to correct behavior than they should. Even if we meet more than once a week, Guides should not need to manage poor behavior outside of very few and unique exceptions per individual student. It is not fair to them or the other students in the class. But, especially because we only meet once a week, Guides do not have the time. Please remind your child of the Wonder Way, basic principles of grace and courtesy, and consideration of others. We will be encouraging staff to remain respectful but firm in the expectations for class behavior and to NOT be lenient to poor attitudes, but rather consistent. Please be reassured that we want your children to succeed and grow in good character as we believe every parent does. If your student is dismissed from class it is for this reason and we ask for your support in this decision by enforcing good character at home.

Steps of Wonder’s Conflict Guide
1. Remember to begin with a Relationship of Respect
2. Request
3. Refocus
4. Reset & Retry
5. Remove

Thank you all for your cooperation!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!
  • Food Sharing Reminder: Please do not bring food (including candy) to share at Wonder. We have a very high number of students with allergies and dietary restrictions. Please bring non-food items for birthdays and holidays. *Please note, this is not regarding families who bring grocery items (for the Blessing Table) for parents to take home.
  • Dress Code Reminder: For Students, Wonder Tees are to be worn and visible during Wonder every week (not outside of Wonder). We know the weather has been consistently cold outside which means more students need to wear sweaters and long-sleeve shirts. If your child needs to wear a long-sleeve shirt throughout the day, please make sure they wear their Wonder Tee over the long-sleeve shirt. Wonder staff, volunteers, and CCPC staff must be able to quickly recognize which students are Wonder participants for multiple reasons.

We wanted to express our sincere gratitude for each of you and your families. Wonder can be a long day for many of you and your children, but it’s also full of joyous fellowship, genuine camaraderie, and encouragement as we grow in character and different skills within each discipline. We thank you for your discipline and for pushing each other to be better in the classroom, ensemble, and at home. Week after week, we’re reminded of how important our community is for different reasons for each of us, so thank you to those who pray for Wonder, the homeschooling community, and each other.

Also, it’s great to know so many Wonder families attended the Colorado Centennial Homeschool Ball. We hope more will attend next year.

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: John 16:24 – Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. – John 16:24 New International Version (NIC)
  • Lost and Found
    • Amazingly, there are many items left behind at Wonder every Tuesday. Water bottles, coats, food containers, socks, shoes, jewelry, class materials, backpacks, practice records, music stands, and even instruments. Normally, we now leave all lost and found on the coat rack shelf right outside the main lobby entrance to CCPC’s Community Center where we meet for Wonder.
    • Lost Flute: There was a flute left behind at Wonder yesterday. We don’t normally leave valuable instruments in the Lost and Found so we kept the item in our possession. Please reply to this memo if you need to arrange a pickup time.
    • Lost iPad: There was an iPad left behind with a colored cover and it looks to be in great condition and fairly new. If this is your iPad, please reply to this memo with the color of the case so we can verify it’s yours and arrange a time/place to meet for pickup. Because it’s an expensive item, we kept the item in our possession and must return it back to CCPC on Friday 1/26 if a Wonder family is not the owner.
  • More Theater Hands & Props: It’s coming to the time when we will need additional hands to help with props, costume alterations, and set work. In upcoming memos we’ll let everyone know of our needs for specific props. We appreciate anyone who is able to offer any props for Wonder to use. We will be sure to handle these items with care and return them upon competition.
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: January 31 (Throwback Day) – Trends come and go. And, with so many wonderful, and not so wonderful, fashion trends making comebacks it’s likely you already have something “retro” in your closet. Hollywood 30s, swingin’ 50s, bell-bottom 70s, neon 80s—any time-period is game. Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.01.09

TO: ALL WONDER HSD MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2024.01.09
DATE: Wednesday, January 10, 2024

It was wonderful being back at Wonder and seeing you all after break!

  • Helping Hands: Please remember to check-in and out  in the staff binder and review the Helping Hands Daily Rundown.
  • Tardy Arrival: During the fall session, we had a surprising number of tardy students during Block 1. It is imperative that students arrive on-time each week. Tardies are a disruption to class and they make it challenging to accomplish daily goals when the guides and coaches must repeat information for students who arrive late. If they are walking in at class start-time they are late. Since we only meet once a week, it’s imperative we accomplish our daily goals within the designated time frame. Thank you!
OTHER EVENT DATES (OPTIONAL)

Homeschool Music Fest Days
February 29 & March 1 – Registration Required
The annual Homeschool Music Fest Days will be held on February 29 for Solo & Ensemble Festival and March 1 for Concert Festival, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This multi-day event encourages homeschoolers in their pursuit to be excellent musicians by performing a musical selection, earning ribboned medals for top scores, and receiving technical feedback from qualified adjudicators.  The Solo & Ensemble Festival is open to homeschool voice, orchestra, concert band, and piano students to play a solo and/or participate in a student-led ensemble. If you are interested in performing at this festival please complete the entry form by the registration deadline (we’ll update you with the registration link as soon as it is published by the event host). Register at https://cohomeschoolmusic.org/music-fest/. Wonder will register all Wonder Choirs to participate  during the Concert Festival Day and will determine which Midpoint and Concert Band and Orchestra ensembles can join.

Wonder coaches will begin scheduling private preparation sessions. In addition to helping students select an appropriate piece, coaches can work with students to polish up their selection and get it performance ready. For those who’d like to perform as a group, now is the time for students to form their ensembles and determine a schedule to practice together. Keep in mind, some Wonder rooms may be available on Tuesday evenings for group practice sessions (this is upon request and a parent from the ensemble must be present). The Solo and Ensemble Festival is a great opportunity for Training and Midpoint orchestra, band, and choir students. If you are unsure if this event will be a good fit for your student, please speak with one of our coaches for guidance.

Meet Your Legislator Day
February 15 – Registration Required –
As homeschoolers, we believe it is our responsibility to understand our state’s homeschool laws and to advocate for parental and homeschool rights. In order to do this, we must be aware of current legislative updates, regarding both. You can read (and join the email list) for legislative updates from CHEC’s Homeschool Freedom Team at chec.org/colorado-homeschool-freedom. Another way to stay involved (yay to a hands-on civic lesson!) is during Meet Your Legislator Day organized by CHEC at the Colorado State Capitol. You can make a direct impact on your district legislator’s perspective and potential voting decisions! As anti-homeschool advocates around the country continue to push for more homeschool regulations, we must remember that homeschooling is a privilege afforded to us by God and those before us who fought for the rights we currently have. Let us continue to guard our rights so our children and future generations can inherit the same privileges or better! [REGISTRATION LINK]

Paul Oman ZOOM Paint-Along for Epiphany
January 24, 5:30-7:00 PM MST – Registration Required –
As many Wonder families know, Resurrection Anglican Fellowship (“Rez”) has been a great blessing to Wonder years due to Rez being located just a few minutes from CCPC. Wonder’s own Ms. Sharon Collier attends Rez and let us know about an event some families would love to attend. Rez is inviting the community to paint the Magi (Wise Men) Story and learn about the Eastern Christian of Epiphany in a step-by-step painting class. Materials are not provided but Rez welcomes attendees to join live at their facilities to share paints. The materials list will be available Sunday January 7, 2024. $5 per person. If your interested in joining, please email lerescheethel@gmail.com.

In lieu of Class Notes (review most recent class notes here), please read the reminders below:

  • Arrive On-time (Students and Helping Hands): Be Present, Be Ready, Be On-time. Please make sure your family arrives on-time each week. Students should arrive in enough time to unpack their items, get out their supplies, and tune their instruments (if applicable) BEFORE class start-time. If they are walking in at class start-time they are late. Since we only meet once a week, it’s imperative we accomplish our daily goals within the designated time-frame. Helping Hands should also be be on-time. Thank you!
  • Attendance Reminder (Students and Helping Hands): A quick friendly reminder to please give prior notice of any schedule conflicts by calling the Wonder Attendance Line (303-900-3284), in advance, and following the prompt when leaving a message. This applies to all participants who are unable to attend a class or required event, will arrive late, or will leave early. All absences which are not notified in advance will be marked as unexcused. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • Nut-Free Reminder: Please be sure both meals and snacks are nut-free.
  • Discovery: Please be sure your child has their water bottle. Students should be dressed warmly with socks, a coat and gloves for outside play every week.
  • Art: Please remember to bring your art supplies to class every week.
  • Instruments and Choir: Please remember to bring your music bags, music (method books and/or black 3-ring binder), along with a pencil (no pens) to class every week.
  • Band, Orchestra, Recorder, Choir, and Dance
    • Remember to sign in and arrive in time to have music on stands and instruments out (if applicable),  tuned, and ready to begin at class start time.
    • Practice Records: Please remember to have your Practice Records sheets filled and signed by a parent every week. Be sure to practice what is listed on the Class Notes.
    • Private Lessons: If a student wants extra practice please request a private lesson. To Request a Private Lesson: Select ‘Private Lessons’ on the Wonder Contact Page. A guide or coach will contact you directly.
  • Ensemble Performance Expectations Reminder (Parents & Students)

We are very proud of our Wonder students for the progress they’ve made in learning or growing in their instruments. Though each student may experience different challenges during their musical journey, we believe the outcome is rewarding and worth the required effort. As we get closer to performance opportunities for this season we know it’s for the benefit of every student and ensemble to reiterate and keep before us Wonder’s performance expectations.

The extent of an individual’s participation is solely in control of the student and parent. Students who have been diligent about practicing will more likely learn and master the necessary skills, while those who have not made it a priority may struggle to do both.

As communicated before break, practicing during breaks is especially important for newer musicians because it takes time and consistency to make the skills taught become more natural and dependable. Extended breaks are not helpful for individual progression or the group.

Parents, please be sure your child is practicing at home diligently. Thank you for your cooperation!

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.12.12

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.12.05
DATE: Wednesday, December 13, 2023

Another wonderful first semester of Wonder is now behind us and the waves of growth continue before us. We’re so thankful for the opportunity to run this program and work together with your families to share in music and the arts. Thank you to all who participated in this week’s Homeschool Spirit Day! We loved all the wackiness and tackiness!

See you next year!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the MonthPsalm 30:1 – [A Psalm. A Song for the Dedication of the Temple. By David.] I will extol you, LORD, for you have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me. – Psalm 30:1 New Heart English Bible (NHEB)
  • WINTER BREAK: No class until next year! Winter Break starts this month. No activities from December 13 through January 8. HSD Classes resume Tuesday, January 9.
  • PARENT REMINDER (PRACTICE RECORDS): If your student is in an ensemble  (Bands, Orchestras, Recorder, Choirs, Dance) please remember the following:
    • Be sure your student practices DURING break.
    • Be sure to remind your child to practice the REQUIRED amount for the week (noted in the Class Notes, linked below). The guides and coaches post what students need to practice for the week.
    • It is imperative every student dedicate the necessary time and effort in order to improve individually and as a group, and to avoid hindering the group.
    • Prelude Band and Orchestra: Practicing during breaks is especially important for new musicians because it takes time and consistency to make the skills taught become more natural and dependable. Extended breaks are not helpful for individual progression or the group.
    • Students should bring their SIGNED Practice Record to class each week. Be sure to monitor their practicing and sign the Practice Records every week.
    • ABSENCES: Always be sure to look at the Class Notes so your child knows what to work on that week.
    • Private Lessons:
      • If a student is required to take private lessons because of absences or because a student needs more practice mastering skills taught, an email will be sent to the family email directly.
      • If a student wants extra practice during break please request a private lesson.
      • To Request a Private Lesson: Select ‘Private Lessons’ on the Wonder Contact Page. A guide or coach will contact you directly.
    • Community Event Opportunity: We wanted to share this event with Wonder families. The Ross Family will be hosting a musical event during break. We hope some of you can make it. [FLYER LINK]

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.11.28

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.11.28
DATE: Wednesday, November 29, 2023

A big thank you to the Ross and Scott siblings for sharing music during Assembly! And, thank you to all who participated in this week’s Homeschool Spirit Day! We tip our hats to you!

And…thank you all for helping us distribute the trailer of food!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Isaiah 55:12 – For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace. The mountains and the hills will break out before you into singing; and all the trees of the fields will clap their hands. – Isaiah 55:12 World English Bible (WEB)
  • REMINDERS
    • Punctuality: We’ve noticed some students arriving late to class (not just their first class). Please arrive in enough time to make sure they are on time for their first class and remind your students to be prepared, present, and on time for each class.
    • Nut-free: Please remember to bring only nut-free lunches and snacks to Wonder.
    • Helping Hands: Unless written otherwise, please remain OFF your phone during your assigned Block. Also, if you are a Class Helper, please remember to actively assist the Guide without additional prompting. Be proactive by asking the Guide what they need.
    • Dress Code: Wonder Tees are to be worn every week (not outside of Wonder). Please let us know if you have a shirt that is too small/big (when arms are lifted, your belly should not be showing). Also, please keep shorts at mid-thigh length or longer (below the finger tips when arms are straight down) and should not be too tight. Leggings should be worn WITH shorts, a skirt, or a dress, but not alone (this does not apply to babies and toddlers, but does apply to adults as well), as detailed in the Wonder Way.
    • Family Wagon: Please continue bringing a collapsible wagon (or alternative solution) every Tuesday and keep your family’s items in your wagon.
  • Private Lessons: For all music students: Some of the coaches are available for private lessons during Winter Break (and regularly before classes begin on Tuesdays). This is especially recommended and important for students in Prelude Band and Orchestra since gaps in instruction time can undo recently learned skills more easily. To coordinate a lesson time, please select ‘Private Lessons’ on the Wonder Contact Page and complete one form for each student. A coach will contact you directly to schedule a lesson and arrange payment.
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: December 12 (Wacky Tacky Day) – Wear your wackiest, tackiest, mismatched, colorful, and outrageous wardrobe malfunction for all to see! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!
  • Wonder Honor Society (WHS): Thank you to those who’ve joined the Wonder Honor Society. We’re still welcoming new students until the end of December. Current members, we’re still working on updating the system to send memos for WHS, so please be on the lookout for an email within the next few days.
  • Community Event Opportunity: We wanted to share this event with Wonder families. Here is an experts from a message from Jeremy Jacobs of Stories of Antisemitism: “Our annual Hanukkah Caroling outreach is fast approaching. This year will be more meaningful than ever, as the war in Israel and rising antisemitism continue. Therefore we will shine the light of hope to our Jewish community by showing them that they have Christian friends who care for them in the midst of this trial. We will meet at Rez Anglican Fellowship, 9250 E Belleview Ave, Greenwood Village at Meet December 11 at 6:00pm to warm up our voices, pray, and disperse. We will come back to Rez around 8:00 to share stories, eat sufganiyot (or another holiday treat), and pray for those we sang to. We will wrap up between 8:30 and 9pm. “

WONDER FUNDRAISER (SAVE THE DATE)

We are on our way to reaching our funding goal for the 2023–2024 season, but we need your help to get us to the finish line.

Wonder only does one family fundraiser a year, in which we’ve raised several thousand dollars to supplement our homeschool programs. We choose to do a crowdfunding-style campaign, where students can add a message to send to family, friends, and co-workers in a simple, more hands-off way than other student fundraisers you may have done. This year, we are testing/comparing the benefits of an earlier fundraiser period, so we’re starting the fundraiser activities in the fall instead of the spring. We’ve also noticed that most families wait until the deadline to submit emails, so we’re shortening the period so we have more time to spread the word.

The Wonder Games flyers will be handed out next week. Please be sure to pick it up next Tuesday at the welcome table. On the back of your family’s flyer is a description of the event and how it works.

  • What: The Wonder Games is our annual fundraiser focused on active games, community spirit, fun, and friendly competition!
  • When: Tuesday, February 6th from 6pm to 8pm
  • Where: CCPC Community Center (Our regular Wonder HSD Building)
  • Why: As a nonprofit dedicated to providing an affordable program to families and the community, the Wonder Games allows us to host a fun family fundraiser that gets all students involved without selling items or going door-to-door and brings the entire family and Wonder community together to share a night of fun games.
  • How:
    • Families use the online fundraiser form on the Wonder Games page to submit their email list of family, friends, and co-workers, along with a spot to write an optional, short personal message.
    • The emails you provide will ONLY be used to communicate about the Wonder Games fundraiser on your behalf and will NOT be added to our regular email list. We will not sell, share, or trade this information with any other party.
    • FUNDRAISER FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 13TH TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POINTS
    • Wonder will send out the fundraiser email on behalf of our Wonder families to receive donations (with online and offline giving options available).
    • Students will get points for the number of contacts listed AND donations raised to redeem at the Wonder Games event.
    • NEW (Alternative Options): As we shared during Family Orientation and Family Interviews, this fundraiser is now required for all Wonder Families in order to ensure we’re able to offer the program at a reduced rate for all families and provide additional need-based scholarships. If you’d prefer not to submit emails, you may choose to give a one-time donation of $500 or more in lieu of submitting emails.
    • Please be sure to RSVP for the Wonder Games event on the Wonder Games page.
  • Unable to attend the event? No worries. All families who complete their fundraiser form will receive points for the number of emails submitted and can redeem their points for a prize after the Wonder Games event.

We greatly appreciate your participation and support!

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.11.14

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.11.14
DATE: Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Sometime yesterday afternoon between 2:00 and 5:00, the Meyer family’s car was hit in the parking lot, causing substantial damage to the bumper. Unfortunately, whoever hit their car did not leave a note. The vehicle was parked in the lot in front of the main sanctuary, in the back row. From the paint, it looks like a white car swiped them. Does anyone have any information about this incident?

Also, if your homeschooled child took a formal academic achievement test last year, we need you to participate in this critically important survey to help protect our right to home-educate our children. The study concludes on November 20, 2023, and the number of participants is currently lower than required: https://christy-faith.com/pages/homeschool-testing-study-of-2023

  • NO CLASS NEXT WEEK: No class on Tuesday, November 21. Classes resume on Tuesday, November 28.
  • Instrument Practice Times: A question came up from a new family about including class time in your instrument practice time. Class time should NOT be included in the required weekly practice time.
    • Students should bring their SIGNED Practice Record to class each week. Be sure to monitor their practicing and sign the Practice Records every week.
    • ABSENCES: Always be sure to look at the Class Notes so your child knows what to work on that week.
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: November 28 (Hat Day) – Baseball caps, clown hats, cowboy hats, or styled fedoras are all perfect choices! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

  • Honor Society: For those still considering joining, the Wonder Honor Society is a student-led program for home-educated students with preparation in character and leadership, service and citizenship, skills and scholarship, business, and entrepreneurship. Similar to traditional honor societies, students are required to complete a number of independent volunteer hours and will learn about leadership, service, and scholarship. Unique to the Wonder Honor Society, lessons will focus on biblical character and include business and entrepreneurship lessons, as well as help develop plans of success based on each student’s skills and goals rather than only focusing on academic achievement.
    • We will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 weekly. As we begin this program, we’ll focus on high school students, but middle school-aged students are welcome. For younger siblings, families will bring games to enjoy, and parents are welcome to participate in the Natural Movement Class by Sandra Houston, which is scheduled at the same time.

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.10.31

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.10.31
DATE: Wednesday, November 1, 2023

Yee-haw! Thank you to all who dressed up for our first Homeschool Spirit Day! Y’all looked mighty fine in your western getups (we’re talkin’ to the adults, too)! And how wonderful to see so many of you participating in the dances during assembly! We are so thankful to Soquel Ross for sharing some dances with us. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Also, anybody who loves western wear and cowboy boots needs to know about the Roper Warehouse sale this weekend! (Thank you, Miss Taylor!)

We’re also really proud of those who have exemplified expectational character, completed memorization scriptures (even some full chapters!), completed their practice times, and submitted pictures and facts (the pile is getting quite high). Keep up the good work while earning points for your team!

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Scripture of the Month: Psalms 71:17-18 – God, You have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wonders. Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come. – Psalms 71:17-18
  • Fundraiser Calendar: The Wonder Honor Society is organizing a fundraiser for Wonder and other organizations (homeschool programs, missions, youth groups, non-profit organizations, and other services we support). This calendar was designed by a Colorado homeschool mama and alumni! You can read about the calendar at letswonder.com. Please consider purchasing a calendar for your family and sharing it with others. As a privately funded, faith-based non-profit organization, it can be challenging to raise the funds we need to keep the program affordable and sustainable. In addition to the annual Wonder Games, we seek grants, community support, and other opportunities we find. If you know of an organization you’d like us to support, please let us know so they can be added to the fundraiser. Thank you for your continued support!
  • Fall Reviews for (Band, Orchestra, Recorder Only):
    • We are halfway through the fall session, and it’s been a pleasure to see our Wonder students progressing in their instruments and art skills over the past 5 weeks. It’s especially important that we stay ahead of each student’s individual progress to make sure we help prepare them for success and maintain accountability. Thus, we’d like to have a 15-minute Fall Review with you before Wonder classes resume. We’ll hold these conference meetings via online meeting on Monday 11/20 and Tuesday 11/21 during break. Your child DOES NOT need to be present for this meeting. We’ll cover specific topics such as overall progress, practice records, private lesson recommendations (if necessary), and other pertinent information related to your family.
    • While we wait to meet, please be sure your child has reviewed the most recent Class Notes and, if applicable, practices the required amount during weekly classes and break. Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to speaking with you!
  • Family Wagon: Some families do not have a wagon yet. Unless you have one child registered in one class, please make sure you have a wagon every week. Don’t own a wagon? A basket or bin could work, though the wheels of a wagon make it easier to move.
  • Lost & Found: There are a lot of items in the L&F at CCPC. Many items are not labeled. Please make sure your water bottles and personal items are labeled.
  • Attendance Line (Reminder): Please give prior notice of any schedule conflicts by calling the Wonder Attendance Line (303-900-3284) in advance and following the prompt when leaving a message. This applies to all participants who are unable to attend a class or required event, will arrive late, or will leave early. All absences that are not notified in advance will be marked as unexcused. Thank you for your cooperation. Returning families, be sure you have the correct number.
  • Homeschool Spirit Day: November 28 (Hat Day) – Baseball caps, clown hats, cowboy hat, or styled fedoras are all perfect choices! Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!

OTHER EVENT DATES (OPTIONAL)

The Scottish Fiddle Society
Saturday, November 4 at 2pm – Free Admissions
Enjoy the fiddle, dance, and vocal music of Scotland, Ireland, and America performed by some of the best professional, amateur, and student fiddlers (some Wonder folks are participating) in Colorado at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Littleton (7531 S Kendall Blvd, Littleton, CO 80128).

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.10.24

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.10.24
DATE: Wednesday, October 25, 2023

This year has started off better than any other year! We’ve learned so much and feel a sense of gratitude for everyone (students, parents, and staff) who have helped us get to where we are at this moment. We are doing our best to make Wonder wonderful for everyone! Even with this effort, we know conflicts can arise, and we like to address them as quickly and thoughtfully as possible. The following is a relevant note and reminder for all the adults who participate in Wonder as guides, coaches, parents, volunteers, or Helping Hands. This is not directed at any one person, but since we come together weekly, it’s important to mention: Please be mindful of how you communicate and interact with one another, including every single student and child at Wonder. This includes the tone, sarcasm, jesting, etc., along with the facial expressions. A part of this is likely to relate to you personally, depending on your personality – we ask that you consider whatever it may be that will help support the environment we strive to maintain at Wonder. We want everyone to feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired when they leave Wonder. This does not mean we cannot create a disciplined environment, but it may mean adjusting how we say something to a student who does not know you very well.

As many of you may know from conversations with us or from personal awareness, in conflict, most people have a natural tendency to respond too leniently, passively, or harshly. As we do our best to teach our own children skills of communication, we know that not all adults have mastered how to both require high standards and communicate these standards with confidence and respect when challenges arise. At Wonder, we expect a lot from our students. They should practice at home, be on time and attentive in class, follow instructions with good attitudes, take care of the environment we use, and respect each other (both students and adults). This is the expectation, and we will not waiver or expect less because we know it’s possible. However, as adults, we know we must model this for our young people and show compassion if they fall short of this expectation as they learn to practice these skills, showing them that we care that they are successful. Are there consequences for our actions? Yes. Should we follow through on those consequences? Yes. Our yes should be yes and no be no. Can we correct, guide, and redirect students who are out of line or fooling around? Yes. It’s especially necessary in a community setting with multiple families. Can we do so with a non-harsh tone? Yes. We’ve successfully witness necessary correction being spoken with firmness yet with kindness and gentleness often at Wonder. Are we still learning how to do this better? Yes. We are not too proud to seek the Lord’s wisdom and recognize the wisdom of others in order to grow and improve ourselves. We hope this is true for you as well. So please don’t be afraid to hold to the standard while communicating with respect. This covers every personality type. 🙂 Our goal is to continue nurturing an environment of high expectations and encouragement. We’ve been told this is rare, so we appreciate your patience, understanding, and personal effort in this manner.

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.

  • Homeschool Spirit Days: October (Howdy Day) – Come all cowboys and cowgirls with your favorite western or farming attire. Throw on your stylish wild west hat, boots, and strapping belt or jump into your trusty overalls and plaid button up! Grownups can participate! Wonder Tees are only required for those who do not participate. Always keep in mind The Wonder Way and refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing. Let’s have fun!
  • Family Photos: Fellow homeschooler and Wonder Guide, Lizzie Sundet, is offering mini family photo sessions for homeschool families on October 29th. Please take a look at the flyer and reach out directly to Lizzie if your are interested. (LINK)
  • Helping Hands: Please remember to check-in and to check-out, read the HH Rundown, and check in there are any sub needs everyday. Also, please remember to arrive 10 minutes prior to your listed assignment time. Class Helpers should remember to stay off devices when volunteering. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • Punctuality: We’ve noticed some students arriving late to class (not just their first class). Please remind your students to be prepared, present, and on-time to each class.
  • Label Reminder: Please make sure your water bottles and personal items are labeled. (instruments, cases, lunch bags, water bottles)
  • Lost and Found: Items that are left at the facilities will be on the shelf of the coat rack in the 1st Floor Hallway, where CCPC usually leaves lost and found items. Occasionally, CCPC clears their lost and found so we encourage you to check it regularly to avoid loss of possession, as we are not informed of their clearing schedule. We do our best to make sure families take their items home, but we are not responsible for left items. In the case of more costly item, like a wallet, we will plan to store them with Wonder item until the following week.
  • Community Time Dinner: You are all welcome to join us for dinner after Wonder. We know it can be a long day for most families, but we’ve found it helpful to slow down and enjoy a meal and conversation rather than rush home in traffic.
  • Community Time Activities: The Wonder Honor Society will begin soon and Sandra Houston is hosting a natural movement class geared towards women on Tuesdays at the Homeschool Day. We’re still working on the times and hope to have an update by next week for the first Tuesday in November.
  • Piano Tuning: The piano was tuned a few weeks ago (the choir students are probably the most enthusiastic about his news for obvious reasons). For those who do not know, after moving a piano it can take a few tunings for the piano to get to optimal tuning, so we have a few more planned for the future. Several folks have asked us about our referral. If you have piano tuning needs, please consider contacting former Wonder family and fellow homeschooler, Rick Wheeler (303-358-0776 and cantus67@hotmail.com).

HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.09.26

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HSD WEEKLY MEMO: 2023.09.26
DATE: Wednesday, September 27, 2023

Hello, Everyone!

What a wonderful first day of Wonder! We hope you all enjoyed your classes, met some new friends (of all ages), and learned something new! Thank you to all the parents who stepped in and helped where there was a need. Thanks to all the students and parents who made yesterday’s Assembly a success! We are beginning a new journey together and look forward to working side-by-side to create wonderful music, art, and experiences to share with others. In the short time of meeting your families, we already see an environment of joy establishing. It’s going to be wonderful to see your smiling faces every week!

Also, during the assembly, we did mention not to prop open the doors at CCPC to the outside, which causes the air conditioning to not function efficiently. We were not referring to the doors to the classrooms. Please feel free to open classroom doors when necessary for airflow.

We’ll be out of town next week, but hope to have internet access for emails and such.

  • NO CLASS NEXT WEEK: No class on Tuesday, October 3rd. Classes resume on September 10th.
  • Helping Hands: We have a few adjustments to make from this week and still have a few needs we are looking to fill. We’ll update the schedule as adjustments are made (no notice will be sent out). Please remember to arrive 10 minutes before the listed class time (and depart 5 minutes after) and check-in at the Welcome Table before and after your placement for any notes for the day.
  • Tuition: There are a few families who have not yet submitted their annual tuition for the season. Please bring your payment during next week’s class to complete your registration.
  • Student & Staff Photos (Rescheduled): During the first several weeks of Wonder
  • Dress Code: Wonder Tees are to be worn every week (not outside of Wonder). Please let us know if you have a shirt that is too small/big (when arms are lifted, belly should not be showing). Also, please keep shorts at mid-thigh length or longer (below the finger tips when arms are straight down) and should not be too tight. Leggings should be worn WITH shorts, a skirt, or with a dress, but not alone (this does not apply to babies and toddlers, but does apply to adults as well), as detailed in the Wonder Way.
  • Practice Records: Please be sure to be aware of your student practice times and habits, and sign their Practice Records every week. We know everyone is not familiar with the different disciplines, but we do ask that you make an effort to support your child and keep them accountable.
  • Focused Practice: For those with students who are in band, orchestra, recorder, choir, or dance please remember the general Wonder philosophy of guiding students through new skills and material. We focus on skill-based music, arts, and enrichment. This means, we find repetition and mastery important. We do not tend to rush through material, but would rather take a systematic and intentional approach to ensure students are developing a strong foundation to build upon. This tends to be a slower process, especially because we only meet once a week. Please familiarize yourself and your child with the Focused Practice Guide.
  • Private Lessons: Although not required for all students, we highly encourage our musicians to take private lessons in their respective instruments. It is here, under the guidance and responsibility of a private music teacher, where musicians are more likely to acquire excellent technique which leads to mastery of skills and excellent musicianship. You will be notified if your child is struggling and will need lessons to keep up with the class pace.
  • Stay Healthy: Now that we’re getting together again, it’s a good time to take any immune boosting remedies and continue drinking plenty of water.
  • Allergies: We have a few students who have severe allergies. We may need to adjust some of the food allergy restrictions and will update everyone if so.
  • Checking Out: Please be sure to checkout at the Welcome Table before leaving (return badges an sign-out with your time).

PARENT REMINDER (PRACTICE DURING BREAK)

If your student is in an ensemble  (Bands, Orchestras, Recorders, Choirs, Dance) please remember the following:

    • Be sure to remind your child to practice the REQUIRED amount for the week DURING BREAK (noted in the Class Notes, linked below). The guides and coaches post what students need to practice for the week.
    • Prelude Band and Orchestra: Practicing during breaks is especially important for new musicians because it takes time and consistency to make the skills taught become more natural and dependable. Extended breaks are not helpful for individual progression or the group.
    • Choir: Please be sure your child has access to the sound files for choir so they can practice along with their parts, if provided.

HSD MEMO: HELPING HANDS

TO: ALL WONDER MEMBERS
MEMO: HELPING HANDS
DATE: Friday, September 22, 2023

The Helping Hands schedule is updated! Thank you for your patience! Please take a look at the schedule and make sure you know your placement time. We do our best to coordinate the schedule while also matching volunteers to a class that fits their background and experience. This approach, although it requires more time, has been the best and most beneficial for Wonder students and the overall program. We do also consider everyone’s availability and preference, time of enrollment, whether a family has babies/toddlers, class sizes, and Wonder’s priority needs. We cannot guarantee a parent will be placed in their child’s class, and we ask that you not request a change for this reason. Though, if you have concerns about your placement please let us known. Please note, we are be unavailable on Monday, September 25th, but will do our best to reply to messages before then. Otherwise, we will be available to answer questions on Tuesday (once students are settled and in class). Please take a look at the schedule and review points below.

Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information about the season.

EXPECTATIONS

If you have not yet done so, please take this time to review the Wonder Way (member expectations), as we depend on every member to uphold the vision and standards set in place.

Regarding the Dress Code. Everyone’s definition of modesty may vary, and that is okay, however, during your time at Wonder and Wonder hosted events, we expect participants (males, females, young people, and grownups) to follow the dress code according to the Wonder Way. Often times, an emphasis is placed on women to uphold modesty, and although some details may apply to a particular gender based on what’s culturally worn in society, our intention is to have expectations void of partiality. Please note the following highlights:

  • Changing Clothes: Students will not typically have time to change throughout the day, so please dress in comfortable, but not frumpy attire, that allows for free movement.
  • Attire to Avoid: Please refrain from inappropriate attire, such as anything that may resemble cross-dressing.
  • Follow the 4Bs: To keep it simple – No Backs, Bellies, Busts, or Butts
  • Bottoms: Shorts, skirts (and dresses) should be at mid-thigh length or longer (below the finger tips when arms are straight down) and should not be too tight
  • Leggings: Leggings should be worn with shorts, a skirt, or with a dress, but not alone (this does not apply to babies and toddlers)

ATTENDANCE

Wonder programs depend on every participant to be prepared, present, and on-time during each class, rehearsal, concert, and event. Please give prior notice of any schedule conflicts by calling the Wonder Attendance Line (303-900-3284), in advance, and following the prompt when leaving a message. This applies to all participants who are unable to attend a class or required event, will arrive late, or will leave early. All absences which are not notified in advance will be marked as unexcused. Thank you for your cooperation.

CLASS NOTES

  • Please be sure to SHOW the Class Notes to your child every week (even if they are absent)
  • Class Notes are mainly posted for students to reference when practicing.  You can expect to have Class Notes for your child during most weeks if they are in a performance class. Other classes will usually have Class Notes posted less frequently.
  • Class Notes can be printed. To print, click on the Memo Title to view the View PDF & Print link above the selected memo. You can save paper by selecting the option to print 2-pages on one page, double sided.
  • In every case, if your child has a Class Note posted for the week, the class name will be listed as shown below:

All parents are invited to join their child(ren), however, we require that at least one parent/guardian attends and accompanies their child(ren). You will hear more about our faith-based, family-focused, and community-centered approach to learning and sharing skill-based music, arts, and enrichment.

Students who are playing an instrument, please bring your instrument to orientation. Those who ordered an instrument through our vendor should arrive at 4:00pm to receive their items.

  • Instrument Pickup: If you have purchased or are renting an instrument from a Wonder vendor your instruments will be delivered for pickup during Family Orientation.
  • New and Returning Instrument Students: Please bring your instruments, accessories, music books, and music stands. If you do not have these items yet, let us know when you arrive.
  • Recorder Students: Recorder, accessories, and music books will be provided for recorder class students on the first day of class. Please provide your own music stand. Returning recorder students, please bring the Recorder 1 instrument, accessories, and music books (do not bring your music stand).
  • Returning Instrument Students: During the Focused Practice Workshop, it is expected that returning students will be present to receive a refresher for themselves and to model proper standards to new students. Thank you for your participation.

General Memos and Announcements will be posted on the main page of the Member Dashboard as well.
