Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all members.


We are getting ready to start our next season of Wonder and look forward to seeing everyone at the 1st team meeting of the season. In the past, we’ve felt rushed during this meeting so we’ve allotted more time to review the vision and expectations for the year, get to know one another, complete any department-specific work during the team breakout session, as well as offer a vital masterclass for all staff by Anna Sobotka. The Mandatory Family Orientation is on the evening of the same day. Because the event is in the evening we know it can conflict with your schedules but it’s important everyone attends, if possible. While families check-in, we will have a meet and greet time with Guides and Coaches and complete instrument checks for band and orchestra students. It is wonderful to have team members present to meet families before the first day of classes. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you!

  • 10am-2pm – Team Meeting, Masterclass Workshop & Breakout (Lunch Provided by Wonder)
  • 2:30pm-3:30pm – Family Orientation Setup


  • Time: 4pm – 8pm, setup from 2:00-3:30pm
  • Location: Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, Community Center (west building) 10000 East Belleview Avenue, Greenwood Village, CO 80111
  • Parking: Please park in the northwest parking lot near the front entrance of the Community Center (west building) and enter the double doors on the first level.
  • Arrival: Please expect to be present during the entire event.
  • Assignment: Assignments will be updated as we receive confirmation of attendance from team members. If we’ve assigned you but you are unavailable, please let us know as soon as possible. Thank you!
  • Attire: Wonder Shirt + Casual (please see dress code)

    • Student Instrument Sectionals: Instrument Check (Band, Orchestra, Recorder, Choir, Music Foundations Teams, 20-30m) AND Parent Workshop (Anna S., 20-30m)
  • Musictime Workshop: Welcome and Sample Class (Meg C, Ro K.)

  1. Pizza: Please reply to this email indicating your pizza request so we can adjust the pizza order accordingly. (Example: Gluten Free: 1, Dairy Free: 2)
  2. Family Enrollment: If you have a child who will participate in Wonder this year, please complete your Family Enrollment as soon as possible.

  4. Open House: If you would like to help facilitate the Instrument Fair and some auditions during the upcoming Open House please reply to this memo with your availability.
  5. Spaces for Wonder Collaborative Work: Please make sure you are on the Wonder HSD Team & other applicable spaces for all Wonder collaborative communications. To protect the privacy of all Wonder members and families, please keep ALL Wonder communications within this platform because we do not currently offer Wonder emails. You should have received an email invite to Google Spaces.   6. Lesson Plans: Please confirm if you have access to your class Drive folder and begin updating your lesson plans for the season (postponed to mid August – once the updated template is added to the appropriate folder you can update your lesson plans; old files will be added to the updated folder for your reference). For those who need to update the student goals list and discuss resource requests (repertoire, projects, supplies, etc.) please schedule a 1-on-1 in August to finalize approved materials.
  7. Instrument & Vocal Ensembles: This year, we are making further steps to establish greater continuity within our music program. All music teams (instrument and voice), please become familiar with the Blue Jello rhythm language (simplified chart). We are moving towards developing a syllabus for each class and will add an order of priority to the Team Page for your reference as soon as possible. We are beginning with Band and Orchestra Prelude & Training ensembles.
  8. New Team Member Bio: If you are new to Wonder or have not submitted a Bio, please reply to this memo with your updated bio by September 30th. Bios should be short and in first person. Don’t be afraid to add a little personality to your writing. Keep in mind, we may need to edit your submission to fit the layout. In addition please include a short one-word or two-word answer to the following questions (example shown below):
    • Musical Skills: Voice, Cello, Listening
    • Art Skills: Curating, Watercolor Painting, Felt, Photography
    • A Few of My Favorite Things: Evening Hikes, Laughing, Trying New Things
    • Places Traveled: 2 Countries, 5 states (countries should include the US)
    • Ice Cream or Cake: Ice Cream!
