Please read this memo in its entirety, as it contains important information for all families.


MANDATORY FAMILY ORIENTATION

We will have a mandatory Family Orientation on the evening of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, scheduled from 4:00pm – 8:00pm for all Wonder Homeschool Day (HSD) families. All parents are invited to join their child(ren), however, we require that at least one parent/guardian attends and accompanies their child(ren). You will hear more about our faith-based, family-focused, and community-centered approach to learning and sharing skill-based music, arts, and enrichment.

Students who are playing an instrument, please bring your instrument to orientation. Those who ordered an instrument through our vendor should arrive at 4:00pm to receive your items.

Check-In Times (Updated)

Please note the arrival times listed below. We underestimated our final enrollment count and are attempting to allocate enough time to check-in all families. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

  • 3:30 pm: Returning Student Volunteers Age 14Y+ (see below)
  • 4:00 pm: ALL families (see exception below)
  • 4:45 pm: Families registered with ONLY Musictime classes (infant-7Y) who DO NOT intend to eat pizza

GENERAL FORMAT

  • 4pm-5pm – Check-In + Pizza + Meet & Greet
  • 5pm-6pm – Family Session
  • 6pm-7pm – Focused Practice Workshop (Students + Parents)
  • 7pm-8pm – Breakout Session (Students + Parents)

Final Registration

During Family Orientation we will:

  • Confirm your child’s schedule
  • Complete any incomplete paperwork, if applicable
  • Submit payment for tuition (either full or the first month) and all materials, Helping Hands, tees or yearbook fees (cash or check only). See note below for those who selected a monthly payment installment for tuition.
  • Students receive or trade-in Wonder Tees (Returning students should wear or bring your tees to trade to a larger size)
  • Take yearbook photos
  • Receive Helping Hands Assignments
  • Meet Guides & Coaches
  • Music students will receive some resources and first assignments
  • Additional supply lists will be available on this day

Payment Methods

  • Payment Method: Total due at Family Orientation must be paid by cash or check only. Please make checks payable to “Wonder” memo: HSD Family Name
  • Monthly Installments: For those who selected a monthly installment, please be prepared to submit your first monthly payment, Materials Fees, Helping Hands and Additional Fees, if applicable (cash or check only) during Family Orientation. Future monthly payments may be made by submitting predated checks or setting up automated recurring payments scheduled on the 15th of each month between October and May.
  • Financial Assistance: For those who completed a Financial Assistance application, please note Financial Assistance does not cover Materials Fees or Helping Hands Fees. Please be prepared to submit payment for Materials Fees and Helping Hands Fees, if applicable (cash or check only) during Family Orientation. You will receive an update on your Financial Assistance status within the month.

Pizza

We will provide pizza and snacks during Family Orientation.

Instrument Students

  • Pickup: If you have purchased or are renting an instrument from a Wonder vendor your instruments will be delivered for pickup during Family Orientation.
  • New and Returning Instrument Students: Please bring your instruments, accessories, music books, and music stands. If you do not have these items yet, let us know when you arrive.
  • Recorder Students: Recorder, accessories, and music books will be provided for recorder class students on the first day of class. Please provide your own music stand for the first day of class. Returning recorder students, please bring the Recorder 1 instrument, accessories, and music books to orientation (do not bring your music stand).
  • Returning Instrument Students: During the Focused Practice Workshop, it is the expectation that returning students will be present to receive a refresher for themselves and to model proper standards to new students. Thank you for your participation.

  • 2023-2024 Wonder HSD Calendar: Please view the updated calendar for general calendar dates and start and end times. We are still adding dates to the calendar as they are approved by the varying facilities.
  • Family One-on-One (New & Returning families may schedule a one-on-one if needed): Tuesdays in July & August, ONLINE [SCHEDULING LINK]

  • Mandatory Family Orientation (HSD): Tuesday, September 12th from 2:00pm-8:00pm at CCPC
  • First Day of Wonder Homeschool Day Classes: Tuesday, September 26th from 10:00am-5:00pm at CCPC (according to individual schedule)

ACTION ITEMS (REPLY TO THIS MEMO WHEN APPLICABLE)

  1. Returning Students (14Y+): To help reestablish a community of teamwork and consideration for the upcoming season, please plan to arrive at 3:30pm in order to assist in welcoming new and returning families as a Junior Helper. Your assignments will be given upon arrival (such as checking in families, distributing Wonder tees, serving pizza, etc.).
  2. Helping Hands Background Check [Due: August 31st]: All parents who will be volunteering are required to complete a background check every year. Background checks are $40 and provided by a third-party company. [BACKGROUND CHECK LINK] You may also submit a comparable background check from another company if completed within last 12 months.
